Hend Samir is an Egyptian artist based in Amsterdam and Cairo, working primarily with painting, as well as printmaking, mixed media and video. Born in 1986, she graduated from the Helwan University Faculty of Fine Arts, Printed Designs department in 2008. Samir is a co-winner of ‘Roz-nama 3’ competition in 2014 leading to a solo show at Medrar Gallery. Samir’s solo shows include Running in a Skewed Daydream, Real Pain (2021), The Chocolate Bar of the Future, Medrar (2015), and Hula Hoop Labyrinth, Gallery Misr (2018). Her groups show include the 7th Cairo Video Festival at Medrar Gallery (2017), Photo Cairo 6 at CIC (2016) and Log-In at Darb 1718 (2016). Internationally, her work was featured in exhibitions in the US, Sweden, France, Spain and Belgium. Samir is an Artist-in-Residence at the Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam.
